DIFFERENCES BETWEEN WHEEL LOADERS AND BACKHOE LOADERS

Wheel loaders are powerful machines found on most construction sites that require frequent material handling. With high bucket capacities ideal for scooping material into trucks and transporting it across a job site, these machines can lift almost anything, including soil, gravel, rubble, debris and dirt.

Although a wheel loader looks and performs much like a bulldozer, it features a bucket to scoop, lift and dump materials rather than the flat blade meant for pushing.

A backhoe loader is the perfect piece of equipment for a job that requires both digging and material transport. These machines typically have an articulated arm and small bucket on the back for digging, while the bucket on the front can perform both material handling and leveling. The frame structure of a backhoe is similar to that of a wheel loader, as they both feature four wheels and a cab.

The most significant difference between the two machines is that a backhoe has attachments on both ends, while a wheel loader only features a bucket on the front. Wheel loaders tend to be faster and more maneuverable for transporting material, while a backhoe loader offers more versatility for digging applications.
