About Monark

​It was in 1962, when a pioneering man, the late Mr. Onofre Banson, bought Caterpillar Machines and formed Monark International Inc. (MII) which catered to the forest industry. ​

Monark International Inc. (MII) moved into equipment rentals and the earth-moving contracting field areas where it developed unmatched capability and track record. MII became instrumental in many progressive changes in our country since 1960’s

  • US Bases (Sangley, Subic, Clark)
  • Cement Plants (Island, Continental, Northern, Floro, Hi-Cement)
  • Mines (Pan-Asia, Marinduque/Nonoc, Nickel, Acojo)
  • Building Excavations (Metrobank, Sharaton, Makati Medical Center, Makati Stock Exchange, San Miguel, DBP, PLDT)

And as a joint venture partner and lead group in Hydro Resources in the ‘70s until 1985, MII played a vital role in the successful completion of:​

  • Dams (Pantabangan, Magat, Wandaslintang)
  • Power Plants (Bataan Nuclear, Makban Geothermal, Masiway)
  • Roads (Ilo-ilo, Gamu Roxas, NLEX)
  • Refineries (Shell LPG, Exxon Bataan)
  • Site Preparation (Corinthians, Philippine Shipyard, Chico Irrigation Canal, Kalayaan Pump Storage, Aurora Transbasin, Jamjoon-Hydro)

In May 18, 1987, Onofre's sons - Jan-B and Louie--applied for a CATERPILLAR dealership this eventually led to them being named as the official dealer of Cat equipment here in the Philippines.

The Monark-Caterpillar Sales and Service Agreement was a definitive milestone for the company as it signals the birth of the Monark Equipment we know today.
