When EU Stage V takes effect, Cat® Rental Power dealers have a plan in place to ensure that all Cat mobile generator sets meet emission standards. In accordance with EU Regulation 2016/1628 for Non-Road Mobile Machinery (NRMM), Caterpillar will continue to offer EU Stage IIIA transition engines for up to 18 months after EU Stage V goes into effect.
EU Stage V standards limit harmful substances in engine exhaust gas, such as carbon monoxide (CO), hydrocarbons (HC), particulate matter (PM), and nitrogen oxides (NOx).
Effective July 2019 all Cat mobile generators, including the transition products, will meet the new Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) compliance standard. RoHS restricts the use of ten specific hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment by the European Union (EU):
The restricted materials are hazardous to the environment, pollute landfills, and are dangerous in terms of occupational exposure during manufacturing and recycling.
When RoHS goes into effect July 2019, all Caterpillar EU Stage IIIA transition products will be compliant in Europe. The new Caterpillar EU Stage V products will be RoHS compliant at first production.
